Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

A Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) research study examining the potential benefit of a new type of inhaler for improving lung function and decreasing the incidence of COPD exacerbations/flare-ups. This is a 52 week study with 9 total in-clinic visits and 6 phone visits.

Main Entry Criteria

  • Age 40-80 years of age
  • Current diagnosis of COPD (including chronic bronchitis and/or emphysema)
  • Currently using inhalers for the treatment of COPD
  • History of cigarette smoking
  • A history of COPD exacerbations/flare-ups in the past year

If you choose to participate all study medication, exams, laboratory analysis, EKG’s, and lung testing will be free of charge. You will also be compensated for your time, up to $1824.00 (pending completion of all study visits and participation in the pulmonary function sub-study).

Type II Diabetes Mellitus and Hypercholesterolemia

A study in patients with high cholesterol and high triglycerides to examine whether treatment with an investigational drug will reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. This is a 5 year study with 21 in-clinic visits and 17 phone calls.

  • Type II Diabetes Mellitus

If you choose to participate all study medication, exams, laboratory analysis, and EKG’s will be free of charge. You will also be compensated $75.00 for each in-clinic visit.
